Spotlight – Seattle Humane Society

PrintIf you are friends with me on Facebook, you’ve seen my posts on featured shelter animals that reside at the Seattle Humane Society. I wanted to do a short spotlight on this organization whom I had a chance to visit today in person.

Not only is the staff kind and welcoming, all the animals are very loved and cared for at this no-kill shelter. What is great about the Seattle Humane Society is that they have so many ways to get involved. If you don’t have the time or resources to volunteer directly at the shelter, they provide opportunities to raise awareness about their animals and services that people with even the smallest time commitment can participate in.

I was lucky enough to meet a few of the animals living at the shelter including Willie Nelson, a stray who had come to the Seattle Humane Society only a week ago. He was rescued from a kill shelter – one of the few pups that the staff there believed had a good chance at being adopted.

They do a great job promoting all the animals available for adoption (there were a lot of people looking to adopt today!) but they could always use more great publicity. Click here for all volunteer opportunities with the Seattle Humane Society. You will be surprised at how many ways there are to get involved from taking pictures of the animals to delivering pet food to simply taking a dog on a run.

I’m excited to head back tomorrow – who knows, we may even be adding a special addition from their family to ours soon :).
